Olympia Coffee is a true gem of Pacific Northwest coffee. Founded in 2005, Olympia was an early pioneer in establishing direct trade partnerships and fair sourcing standards for specialty coffee in the United States. They are a certified B Corporation, which holds companies to a high ethical standard for their social and environmental impacts. Olympia also created their own purchasing structure called "Fair for All", where they not only pay their farmers more than double the minimum Fair Trade rate for coffee, but also ensure that their partnering farms pay all of their employees a sustainable wage and provide safe and clean working conditions. Their film about ethical coffee sourcing was even showcased at the United Nations summit in 2012. You simply can't get more of a global impact than that.

And what about their coffee? That's the best part! Olympia proves that you can have high standards, pay fair wages, and produce a great product to boot. You can find their coffees all over the Pacific Northwest, at their 5 cafes and wholesale accounts at cafes and bakeries all over the U.S. They're perpetual award winners—they were awarded Micro Roaster of the Year by Roast magazine in 2013, their baristas have taken top spots at the United States Brewer's Cup and United States Barista Competition, and their coffees are routinely seen in the winners circle of the Good Food Awards.

Their roasting style is modern, but not trendy, with a lineup of coffees all along the spectrum from lighter single origins to darker, toasty blends. But the lighter roasts are balanced, with a caramelized balance of flavor, and their darker roasts still have a flavorful, coffee-aficionado appeal. If their coffee is Fair for All, it's also Roasted for All, with something for everyone, and that explains why they've become such a staple of Pacific Northwest coffee.
