For years, I lusted after a Mahlkonig
grinder, but that's really not a great choice for the home. We finally found a used one for the Beanery, and I'm in heaven.
At home, I'm in love with my Smart Grinder from Breville
. It's got a large hopper, and I really like the built in timer. Our 1.8 ounce pouches grind perfectly in about 50 seconds, and that's exactly what I use every morning. It's a conical burr grinder, and does a great job grinding for drip.
In a pinch, try a blender. It's literally the same mechanism as most blade grinders, and while the grind won't be consistent, it's better than pre-ground, stale coffee.
