The time and labor-intensive black honey process is what gives these beans their sweet complexity. You’ll smell honey-nut cereal and taste juicy notes of apricot, watermelon, cherry. Let this cup be a lush reminder of summer to come...
This is the second year of our ongoing collaboration with the superb coffee of Don William Murillo. This year’s lot has been processed using the “black honey” method, among the most prized and labor-intensive of all honey-processing techniques. This lot is one of the best examples of the black honey process that we’ve ever encountered. In the cup, the juicy watermelon note is accompanied by low tones of pecan and toasted oats. The fruit notes gain complexity as the coffee cools, and watermelon becomes cherry. Clean, juicy finish.
"Very good for a lighter tasting coffee. Brewed with pour over and definitely tasted the fruit up front. Overall a smooth cup!"
"A little too light in terms of flavor for me, but not bad I just don't think it had enough depth for my taste. "
"Honestly not my favorite blend, I would definitely not order it again. It brews a very weak cup of coffee, almost more like tea than coffee. More of a watery finish than a "clean, juicy finish"."
"Yum! This one was delicious!! Perfect just black! Super fresh and bright! Would definitely buy this one!"
"Great light roast coffee. Brewed in french press 4-5 minutes. Great roaster, we have bought coffee from this roaster a few times before. Always enjoy victrola when in Seattle as well. Good Costa Rican coffee, would purchase again."
"Delicious light roast with great flavor. The flavor was strong while steaming hot as well as when it cooled down. "
"Really good light roast. I liked the oat & earthy flavor of this coffee, had a melon/fruit aftertaste. Good taste and easy to drink. "
"Very bright flavors. I use vanilla protein powder in my morning coffee and sometimes it can overpower the flavor. This is not the case with this coffee. the flavors stand out and are floral and bright. This is an all around great medium roast coffee"
"Although there are soe unique notes in this roast with it's almost cereal-like finish, it doesn't feel completely balanced. It has an almost metallic finish and would be better with more acidity to it."
"Really great light roast (which tend to be my favorites). Loved the oat, nut and cherry tastes in this coffee, very light and non-acidic, easy to drink. I didn't get the flavor/taste of watermelon. This one is good both black and with a little creamer. "
"4.8 / 5 Fantastic balance - modestly tart, and as smooth as can be. A tint of pure earth and flora, hearty oats, smooth pecans, and a twinge of honey apricot and cherry. Not catching the watermelon yet - but this coffee is amazing. Tastes of the memories of childhood summertime evenings. Amazing."
