I also ordered this but received same roast number but Sulawesi Taraja Tripled - Picked. It was a dark roast not the medium i was hoping for and green peppers are not something i'm super into in coffee
I ordered this coffee but received the Sulawesi Toraja Triple-Picked, which seems to use the same beans but is a medium-dark roast with a slightly different flavor profile (green peppers, floral, pipe tobacco). I'm not the biggest fan of dark roasts so I wasn't crazy about this coffee, but my dad, who is a dark roast lover, thought it was good. I think fans of Sumatra Mandheling coffee would like these beans as well.
A lot of tobacco and vegetables and dirt in this one. It's not bad, just very earthy if that's your thing.
Now and then these peppery, tobacco-like coffees are enjoyable. This one was good but I've had better. Mostly got a vegetal pepper and slight tobacco taste in what was a slightly creamy body.
This was a surprise for us. The notes of the flavors had us off guard, and you can definitely smell the tobacco when you open the bag. However, this was our favorite coffee out of this month's sampler pack.
In the french press, even with milk, it's like smoking a cigar, which to me, isn't a good thing. If you are a smoker, you will probably cherish this one.
