Roaster's Notes

Acatenango is in the center of Guatemala’s coffee growing mountains, between Atitlan and Antigua. Fuego, the nearby active volcano, erupts often and provides rich volcanic soil, and cool Pacific winds bring temperate weather and low rainfall, all of which combines to create one of the world’s most prestigious coffee growing regions. Tehuya means “Cold Water” in the native Guatemalan Kakchikel language. The river running through the farm is very cold, and thus the name.

Ratings & Reviews

NATHAN 08/31/2025
★★★★★
"This is the first coffee from my beanbox subscription that I have really disliked. The roast was very dark, with oils on the surface of the coffee beans (even though I am setup with a medium roast subscription). The coffee wasn't very interesting and even with milk lacked a rich flavor that I would normally expect with dark roasts. "

★★★★★
"For a dark roast, it had a weak flavor, maybe because it did not have the bitterness often found in stronger brews. There was an aftertaste that I'm not sure I like. Drinkable, yes. Buy it again? No."

★★★★★
"My bag was surprisingly dark roast given the flavor profile. Surface oils were visible, definitely smelled like a dark roast. Flavor is robust, bold, takes to dairy or mylk. Not what I was expecting, but I'm sure is a flavor profile enjoyed by others."
