Curator's Notes
Here just in time for the holidays! With sweet, sangria-like notes of black cherry and an oaky complexity, the Cabernet Sauvignon Costa Rica is a limited run of one of our most exclusive coffees. This year’s batch is fresh from the barrel, and arrives just in time for the festivities. If you haven’t tried a wine barrel coffee before, get excited: the French Oak barrels add a unique depth, but they don’t dominate the cup. Smooth and light notes of fresh strawberry mousse open this medium roast, before developing into a richer, graham cracker sweetness. While there are wine-like notes and complexity, the resulting barrel-aged coffee contains no alcohol.
Roaster's Notes
The Cab Sauv barrel is a single-use French Oak barrel that aged its wine for 30 months before arriving in our hands. The Cabernet Sauvignon itself gave notes of passion fruits, spring flowers, and orange blossom. We received it from a local urban winery and the grapes came from Yakima Valley, WA. Also our in-house notes for the Costa Rica are lemon zest, pie crust, and graham cracker.
