Curator's Notes

Herkimer has been sourcing coffee directly from this farm since 2008! Flavors are layered, easy to love, with a nutty caramel sweetness and a body like melted chocolate. You’ll taste a hint of limeade as the cup cools.

Roaster's Notes

Complex and easy drinking. Lime zest, caramel, and plum are supported by layers of sweet dark chocolate and orange with a hint of roasted peanut. Situated on the northern slope of the Santa Ana volcano, Finca El Manzano is part of Cuatro M Cafes, a family owned coffee producer operated by Emilio Lopez Diaz. Our direct relationship partner since 2008, Cuatro M also acts as a beneficio which helps other farmers in the region process, mill, and export their coffees. Washed pacamara and bourbon cultivars. 1300-1550 masl

"I was really looking forward to trying this coffee and it did not disappoint! Gave me an excellent start to my day with a large cup of smooth and delicious morning cup of coffee for over a week. Worth every penny."

"It was fine. Nothing too remarkable to say about it. I will say that it does not even remotely approach anywhere near buttery popcorn."

"This was in our World Tour Box last year and we loved it! It’s smooth and yummy"

"Good standard light roast, but it was almost too "light." Not a ton of taste notes coming through for me. Still good compared to coffee, in general, but had others on Bean Box that are better. "

"This coffee was fine, but not one of my favorites. It wasn't as acidic as some of the coffees I've received but it also wasn't super memorable. The taste profile wasn't that exciting, but we did make through the bag, so it wasn't terrible! "

"This coffee was good. Not one of my favorites or too memorable but all around a good drink. Love waking up to a freshly made cup in the mornings and this one like other did its job. The hint of citrus/fruit was a nice surprise to my taste buds. "

"You can never go wrong with a Herkimer Coffee. The El Manzano is especially delicious and reminds me of delicious fall flavors."

"The lime was definitely more prominent than the plum for me, and definitely more tea/herbal than caramel. But, it sounded like a strange combo but the flavors definitely came together nicely."

"This coffe is a very good coffee I would recommend anyone try it"

"Brewed by inverted aeropress, first thing in the morning, 11 days off roast. Reeeeeally didn't like it. Chalky up front, fermented bitterness in the back. "
