You won't believe it's a Brazilian! In this rare and flavorful medium roast, unusually sweet berry and lemon fruit tart flavors brighten a smooth, nutella-like base of chocolate and toasted hazelnut.
Scott, Herkimer's coffee buyer, found this exquisite lot while visiting the Sitio Da Torre farm-- it stood out among two cupping tables of coffee samples. While most coffee cherries in Brazil are sorted mechanically, this lot was an "experiment" in hand-sorting the ripest cherries into a single, small lot. It was slated for the Cup of Excellence competition, but Scott talked them into selling it to Herkimer instead!
We feel lucky and excited to offer a limited run of this fantastic find, a true example of that "fairy tale ending" that results when roasters and growers nurture close, friendly direct-trade partnerships.
||★★★★★||★★★★★ Would give this 2 and a half if I could. Not sure why this is considered top shelf. A little too earthy and the tastes, though quite interesting, we're too strange for me. Brewed french press. Guess a second try would be in order, but not likely with so many coffees here.|
