Curator's Notes

We’re kicking off Customer Delight Week with a real winner: a Good Food Award winner, that is! The sheer amount of candy-like sparkle in this coffee is so astounding, we think this coffee farmer must be a real Jolly Rancher. Bright notes of green apple candy are softened by tropical guava sweetness and a smooth body. This is Caffe Ladro's third year buying the Award-winning Guatemala Juan Alva Tello, and we're delighted to share this first place coffee with you!

Roaster's Notes

https://store.caffeladro.com/guatemala-juan-alva-tello-fto-12oz-p614.aspx $18 retail We first came across this incredible Fair Trade Organic coffee when our Head Roaster Ryan watched it (with the his emphatic vote) take first prize in a cupping competition he attended in Guatemala a few years back. We knew how special the coffee was then so we entered it in the Good Food Awards, and received their highest honor, in 2020. This is our third year buying this gem, and we would enter it to win again and again if we could, as this coffee continues to shine. The predominant apple flavor is softened by the ripe tropical fruit, and smooth body. Place an order for this favorite today! "Awesome coffee…..please bring this back"

"As someone who has traditionally preferred dark roasts and espresso, I was delighted to find that I truly enjoyed this light roast coffee. Each sip brought a burst of apple and peach flavors followed by green apple candy tartness. It was so smooth, just a joy to drink. "

"Very good coffee! I made this as a french press and enjoyed the unique flavor profile. I thought it was true to the light roast profile and typically prefer a light or medium roast coffee. "

"This is a very smooth, juicy light roast that has a surprising lack of acidity. I can definitely pick up the green apple and guava notes on the package, but don't be turned off it if you aren't a fan of green apple candy (I'm not!). Grind this one a bit finer to get good extraction so the flavors really pull through. This would be a good venture for someone interested in lighter roasts but don't want the acidity that often comes with them"

"Simply extraordinary. My expectations were actually low, but this is not overly fruity and is much bolder than expected. New favorite for me"

"It tastes darker than what is listed. I’d say it’s leaning more medium. I taste more of a walnut flavor than a candy apple. It’s an ok coffee. Nothing special."
