Just like rock-n-roll and everything your mother warned you about, this dark blend is big, bold, intense, and maybe even a little dangerous. For those about to brew, we salute you.
A blend of Colombian, Guatemalan, and Sumatra Mandheling beans for big, bold flavor and a full body. Complex earthy and herbal notes. Our favorite espresso blend, and perfect for a French press.
"I really liked this blend. I usually prefer dark roasts only, and this was fairly dark, but not like a French roast. It has a nice blend of flavors. This could get me to lighten up my roast preferences a little. "
"Not as strong as we like our coffee. The flavors were there but not very bold."
"If you like more floral, tea-like flavors, this might be a good one for you. The flavors are well-balanced, not overwhelming."
"Nice and dark, which is a huge plus to me. A little to herbal for my preferences but if you like dark herby coffee with some spicy notes this is what you're looking for!"
"This was not my favorite. Although it was dark like I prefer, the tones were not tasty. "
"ground finely and tried as espresso. it was okay, certainly drinkable, perhaps just a bit too dark for my taste. it may do even better as a french press or cold brew, and it's certainly worth trying if you like a good dark roast!"
"Very easy espresso to pull, great for beginners. I enjoyed it!"
"I did not care for this coffee at all, I found it strong, bitter and unpleasant. That being said, I like a full city, dry bean soif you like dark coffee you might love! "
"This blend is moderate and taste very much like most of the dark roast out in the market. Nothing unique that pops out from this blend, yet nothing bad. I find it difficult going back to dark roast after trying light/medium."
"Exactly what you want in a dark roast. Rich and dark without the acidity, and the flavors still come through"
"I'm no coffee connoisseur (yet), but I received this in my first bean box trial and found it to be a pretty smooth, easy to drink dark roast. Update: liked it better for cold brew than regular coffee"
"Use this in my french press! So good! The Fundamental Coffee Company is my go to. I haven't tried anything I didn't like so far."
"I thought this was just too strong for my taste. Although it was a good roast, brewed with my french press, I just felt it was a little too dark for me to drink regularly. "
"Even though darks aren't my fav, I tried this twice and I just found it to be overly roasted for a dark. Not for me."
"This blend was a little too dark for my taste but would be loved by those who like a very strong, bold brew."
"Not my ideal cup of Joe. Definitely a dark bold blend. My first sip I was a little taken aback but started to enjoy it the more I had.."
"Everything about this blend was fantastic! The bold flavors and herbal tones made for a wonderful rich cup of coffee! It did not disappoint!"
"This was one of four dark roast coffees I got in a sample box. It was my least favorite. I usually like Earthy coffees but the after taste was less than pleasing. I believe that it has to do with the blend and not the beans themselves. A decent coffee but not one that I would seek out again. "
"This is a very nice dark roast with really great flavor. "
"Great, classic blend. I don't know if I prefer herbal tasting coffee, however, I do think this was a nice clean blend. Great job!"
"Smooth and decadent blend. Rich, creamy and bold with hints of sweetness. Perfect for a wake up or afternoon pick up. Love this coffee and will be ordering as a regular to keep me going. Have not been disappointed by a single blend yet. Always excited to see what's in store. THANK YOU bean box!!!!!!"
