Curator’s Notes: Nothing says summer like Kona coffee, and this newly-released blend from our friends at Drink Coffee Do Stuff is a real stunner! I brewed up a sample of this one today for our CEO. He said, “this might be the best Hawaiian coffee I’ve ever had". What an endorsement right?? Aloha Baby is a medium-roast blend of specialty Kona from Ka’u area with a natural-processed Colombian and, trust me, this combo is pure coffee gold. The Colombian adds a really nice tropical brightness to the nutty, chocolaty character of this medium blend, but it still has that deliciously smooth, lower-acidity profile that characterizes Hawaiian coffee. Nose of bold toasted sugar leads into a flavor profile like dark cherry cola. Super syrupy body, rich, juicy, and thick, with a buttery, toffee-like finish that’s deeply sweet, like chocolate-covered macadamia nuts or peanut brittle. YUM. The flavor profile almost reminds me of a manhattan cocktail, with its toasted sugar and red fruit notes. If you or someone you love is a Hawaiian coffee fan, don’t miss this one!
