Blackberries, spice and everything nice! This big, bright Kenya Karuthi AA is cozy, toasty perfection, with a full body of syrupy blackberry jam, fire-roasted chestnuts, dark chocolate, and a hint of gingery spice. Sourced from the Othaya cooperative, a well-known name in Kenyan coffee, this roast makes a fantastic espresso and, with milk, gives a hint of black cherry ice cream. Whether you’re waking up with the sun or gazing up at the summer stars, this lush, romantic cup will really light your fire. Campfire-approved.
The Othaya Farmers Cooperative has gained notoriety for many of the coffees they produce. The Karuthi Factory is one of many in the cooperative that produces outstanding and exceptionally unique lots. The red volcanic soils of this region, along with cool temperatures and slow cherry maturation, contribute to a distinctly wonderful flavor profile. Taste notes: Complex, multi-layered, spice-toned. Coconut, blackberry, ginger blossom, wild honey, dark chocolate in aroma and cup. The structure is sweet, tart and savory in balance with juicy, bright acidity; plush, syrupy mouthfeel. The long, resonant finish centers around berry and coconut, supported by ginger blossom and chocolate.
"Very nice coffee. Quite rich and bold with some nice blackberry like notes. I did not really get much coconut from it, which I was really looking forward to, but still enjoyed it and would like to get a full bag. Brewed french press."
