The Cooperativa de Caficultores de Occidente of Nariño was founded on March 1, 1977, with a group of 50 members, most of them from the municipality of Sandoná. It was created to have coffee purchase points in the municipalities near the farms, give a fair price to the coffee growers, distribute cash payment by exact weight, and contribute to the improvement of the quality of life for the producers and their families.
