We make gingerbread houses; roasters make gingerbread coffees! Snowbeard Blend, a perennial bestseller from our friends at Bluebeard Coffee Roasters, is a light roast homage to a holiday classic. Snowbeard Blend combines a spicy, chocolaty coffee from Oaxaca, Mexico with a fruit-forward natural process Ethiopia, for a festive combination of flavors: this cup opens with vanilla-frosted gingerbread notes and culminates in hints of gumdrops and candied fruit. The best part? You don't have to spend any time baking to enjoy this sweet, spicy gingerbread cookie in a mug.

Roaster's Notes

2021's Snowbeard Holiday Blend is a Oaxaca & Natural Ethiopia combination with notes of cocoa, gingerbread, dried red fruits and orange citrus. Those are the broad notes. Tastes like the holidays! The Ethiopia Chelelektu Natural component is in route to us now from Oakland, but I will see if we have enough of our little sample left to send some your way. If not, we're a week out on that, which I hope is ok.

"Truly a magical holiday blend. My favorite this year. I may order a third bag and keep it for a rainy (or snowy) day. I really get the notes of gingerbread, but it's not overbearing or "spicy" beyond a sweet Christmas cookie type of spice. cocoa nib also comes through pretty well, and the candied fruit rounds it out. I drink this black most of the time but it lends itself very well to cream and sugar. Use real maple syrup for a real treat. My recommendation for this coffee is a v60 pour over using the 4:6 method, and about a 1:16 ratio, but you can go lighter if you are drinking it black. I just like it thick and rich. 205° seems to work fine at a medium-course pourover grind (50 on Breville Smart Grinder Pro), just make sure to agitate the grounds enough to lengthen that drawdown time to stay under 3:45 or you're getting close to overextraction. Simply put, this coffee deserve all five stars and a spot under the one on top of your tree. Bluebeard Coffee Roasters, you've made my holiday season merry and bright. Looking forward to trying some more of your stuff. "

"The bag said “gingerbread,” so, being unable to accept that it’s no longer Christmas, I was all in in spite of being more of a medium-dark roast gal. Beans both whole and ground smell like coffee; I didn’t detect any other tones, but maybe that’s me. And black, using a pour over, I got none of the gingerbread sweetness, but with a bit of oat milk, this really came alive. I like it a lot. Might see what happens in the Bialetti later!"
