Ruby Coffee Roasters

Ruby Coffee Roasters

Nelsonville, WI

Wisconsin's coffee gem

Curator's Notes

Ruby Coffee Roasters was founded in 2013 by husband and wife Jared and Deanna Linzmeier, who brought years of West Coast specialty coffee experience back to Jared's home state of Wisconsin. The name comes from Jared's grandmother Ruby, chosen to represent something special, colorful, and deeply personal. Their first roasting space was a spare room in Jared's childhood home on 20 rural acres in Portage County. Today, Ruby operates a full production facility in Nelsonville and a beloved cafe in nearby Stevens Point, with a team of dedicated coffee professionals, many of whom grew up in the area and were thrilled to see Ruby thrive. Good Food Award winners, Food & Wine's Best Roaster in Wisconsin for 2018 and 2019, and one of the most consistently celebrated micro-roasters in the country. In the cup, expect colorful, complex, and beautifully accessible coffees that celebrate the unique qualities of each origin and harvest.

From the Roaster

With a background in many facets of specialty coffee on the West Coast (LA, Portland & Seattle), we launched our micro roasting business in 2013. Our first roasting space was in the garage of Jared's (founder) family home on 20 acres of rural property in unincorporated Portage County, Wisconsin. We found a niche with quality-driven cafes nationwide and saw a huge response shipping directly to home consumers (thank you!)

"I loved this coffee. It toes the line between coziness, and playfulness. Most coffees that I enjoy fall into one or the other, but this one is somehow both."

"The nose is freshness of specialty coffee, well crafted beans and the taste is unique enough to be different that you notice while enjoying this cup. First Bolivian coffee I’ve tried and the Java bean is the oldest bean in existence I believe. Cool!"
