Red Rooster Coffee

Red Rooster Coffee

Curator's Notes

Established in 2010 from small town Floyd, Virginia (like really small, under 1000 people!), comes the highly-awarded and incredible coffee roaster, Red Rooster! Much like how everyone in Floyd knows each other, everyone in the coffee industry is hearing of Red Rooster. They started in 2010 with the simple notion of roasting excellent coffee for Rose McCutchan's existing coffee house. Rose’s husband, Haden Polseno-Hensley, took on the challenge of roasting, and soon, word of Red Rooster's quality spread around Virginia and up and down the East Coast.

From the Roaster

Established in 2010 in downtown Floyd, VA (pop 432), Red Rooster was created with the simple notion of roasting excellent coffee for the owner’s existing coffee house. Soon, word of Red Rooster's quality spread around Virginia and up and down the East Coast.

"One of the best coffees I've ever tried! The tasting notes are right on point. I've tried a lot of different coffee, but this is definitely in my top 3.. the smell is heavenly, the taste is perfection. My only negative comment would be something trivial... Why does the rooster on the bag not have legs??! Lol"

"This is the first time I have tried a coffee made of peaberry beans and it didn't disappoint. This coffee is intensely fruity with plenty of sweet and acidic flavor notes. "

"This cup was like a warm hug--the chocolate notes were rich and deep, yet there was a nice, sweetness to the cup, which ties into the citrus notes described by the roaster. I really enjoyed this roast as a pour-over and believe that the taste would hold it's own in a drip or espresso. "

"I enjoyed this roast, it is a little more acidic than I typically have but I liked it as drip. Pretty mild flavor and good for most tastes. "

"I really enjoyed this one, please take this review with a grain of salt due to drip preparation instead of espresso, however it was very chocolatey and nutty which I enjoy. "

"This is a very nice and toasty roast! I typically go for medium to dark roast and this was perfect for me. It is pretty mild and a little acidic, but not too bad if you are using traditional drip method "
