Some folks trade Pokemon cards, others trade... coffee seeds! In this Johnny Appleseed story, one scrappy coffee lover with a suitcase of coffee seeds traveled to Colombia with a Panamanian prize: Geisha seeds from the prominent and well-known Hacienda La Esmeralda farm. These premium seeds found a home in the Colombian mountainside, with grower Jeremias Lasso, where they grew like wildfire in the lush volcanic soil. Jeremias has been nurturing these plants since 2009, and this is his first fruitful harvest.

Velton is a natural roaster to put his spin on this young Geisha. His clean, sparkling roast style enhances the soft interplay of citrus, floral, and tea-like flavors in this pedigreed coffee. You'll taste bergamot, the citrusy orange-lemon flavor that makes Earl Grey tea so distinctive, as well as wash of floral notes. A sweet, lingering finish like the last sip of tea with a little extra honey pooled at the bottom of the cup.

This is a special Colombian Geisha that was intended for competition brewing at the World Barista Championships. There's just a bit left, and we're excited to be able to offer it to you! Geisha coffees are rare unicorns, one of the most sought-after in the coffee world, known for their mellow yet complex flavor profile, a marriage of delicate tea-like notes and coffee's cozy strength.

We recommend brewing this light roast as a pour over, with a slightly cooler water temperature than traditionally recommended—let your boiling water sit an extra minute or two. This small difference will maximize the nuance of flavors in your cup.

★★★★★ ★★★★★ Very very unique! I was so glad to score a bag. It is bright without being acidic, and is great for spring.

★★★★★ ★★★★★ My first geisha and Velton's is my favorite roaster so was excited to try this. Smells strongly of tea, floral, jasmine, and tastes like that too with a hint of citrus/lime. (Dead-on description) This was very interesting to have something so floral.

★★★★★ ★★★★★ Drank this new blend twice today for the first time. I used a classic french press after using a coffee mill to break down the beans. The "nose" on this batch from the just opened bag was full of rich caramel overtones with clear honey elements. Wonderful.

★★★★★ ★★★★★ This coffee has the citrus flavor you would expect from a Colombian coffee with a slightly sweet flavor on top of it. Very nice!
