Puns aside, the name of this coffee, "Recolectores", means coffee pickers, a largely overlooked group of agricultural workers whose hard work and attention to detail can make all the difference between a good cup and a great one. Smaller farms don't have the resources to hire pickers year-round, because they're mainly needed during harvest season; so despite their large impact on the quality of the product, many coffee pickers find themselves hopping between farms, underpaid, and not eligible for benefits. This microlot is a collaboration of 15 different farmers, all of whom committed to specially train a group of coffee pickers, share those employees between them, and provide them with a full salary and benefits. This leads to better opportunities for small farms to attract and keep good workers, better quality of life for workers and their families, and higher quality coffees for us!
