Why I'm Obsessed: NEW ROASTER ALERT. I’m excited! Everyone, meet Servant Coffee, out of Denver, Colorado. John Pierson founded this one after a big life pivot and a two-week stay on a Colombian coffee farm that apparently ruined him for any other career. I get it, John. Servant is built around the idea that everyone prospers when we serve each other well, and their sourcing backs that up: small producers, direct relationships, full traceability. Our kind of roaster.

Prosper Blend is their everyday, medium roast, dialed in perfectly for drip coffee, and a fun project in that it rotates through different relationships, origins, and new partners. Right now it’s a pulp natural Brazil called Tropicana (THAT NAME) and yes, we can’t judge books by their cover, but this cup is as juicy as anything called Tropicana ought to be. Prosper has a nice creamy body, a backbone of toasted almond nuttiness– thank you Brazil- but layered with dark fruit in a way that’s classic, approachable, but dynamic enough to keep you sipping. Sweet, lingering finish that reminds me of fresh blackberry crisp and slightly spicy cola syrup. Rio Brilhante is one of the most successful specialty farms in Brazil. Aside from their Cup of Excellence showing, they are also UTZ and Rainforest Alliance Certified, and delicious naturals/pulp naturals like this one are their claim to fame.
