Curator's Notes

When it comes to coffee, nothing is more iconic than Mocha Java, the world's oldest blend. A mug of pure romance, this dark roast combines the spiced, earthy notes of an Indonesian with the smooth, fruity notes of an Ethiopian. The result? A layered cup of complex flavors with a smooth red-wine-like finish. As it cools, you might detect a touch of florals, like the aroma of a tropical, night-blooming flower.

Roaster's Notes

This is the world’s original coffee blend, featuring a mix of coffees from Indonesia and the lands near the red sea where Arabica coffee was first discovered. In the cup, it features heavy body, dried berry notes, a bit of pleasant earthiness and outstanding sweetness.

"Summertime is here so why not try a classic coffee ☕️ iced? What an amazing cup! The spices come out even more delicious than a hot cup. I was a bit skeptical to try such a traditional coffee this way but so glad I did."

"This was too floral and fruity for my tastes, it was like drinking a light roast with the acidity and fruity flavor but with the bite of a dark roast"

"I did a cold brew with this one, in the fridge for 12 hours. On point! Smooth"

"Trying this Mocha Java again a full year later to see if my thoughts have changed. And I am so glad that I did! Even though I don’t usually enjoy dark roasted coffees I loved this one and I am sure it was because of the wonderful light floral and berry tones interspersed throughout the smooth, bold, dark cup. Can’t wait for my second cup! Can’t help wondering what it might be like with cream also. Just shows the value of trying a coffee ☕️ a second time some months later."

"Caffeine: Low-Medium; Grind Level: 40 (Breville Smart Pro Grinder); Settings: Gold Cup w/ 28 oz. water (Breville Precision Brewer); Review: Really oily, and beans stuck together, but it’s a dark roast. Really dark, tastes almost burnt. I'm not really a dark roast guy, but this is actually pretty good. I don't know if my palate is refined enough to actually distinguish between the label notes, but when I added half and half it became a pretty good cup. "

"The reviews of this one are all over the map. I thought it was okay, not bad, not my favorite. The floral/fruity thing hits the spot for me at times but isn’t my go-to preference."

"Not my favorite one recently. The earthier notes weren't as I was hoping for. Brewed well, good as iced coffee."

"To be completely fair I typically don’t choose dark roasts. That said I just couldn’t get past the unpleasant aroma as I tried it. No real notes stood out for me either on this one. "
