There’s just one thing to say about this sweet, creamy Guatemalan coffee: we’re “bananas” over it! With notes of tropical fruit, cantaloupe melon, and a fantastic finish of banana cream pie, Ladro's Guatemala Juana Delgado Domingo is one of our favorite Guats of the season. In addition to being delicious, this cup is certified Fair Trade and organic, and represents a unique twist to the classic Guatemala profile. It’s one of our favorites of the season, and, as with most micro-lots of this caliber, it’s just about gone.
Ladro’s head roaster, Ryan, hand-picked this coffee during his participation in a competition of this year’s best lots from the well-known CODECH cooperative. It took 6th place in competition, but Ryan fell in love with its smooth, rich tropical flavors and note of creamy banana. Fine Guatemalan coffees, especially from Huehuetenango region, are known for their rich cocoa and blackberry sweetness, but less common are flavors like peaches, cherries, tropical fruit, or, like this one, a fruit salad of cantaloupe and banana! It’s not often you find these notes in a coffee, so this is something truly exceptional.
Last month, we were proud of Caffe Ladro for their three silver and three bronze medals in the Golden Bean Awards, a North American coffee roaster competition: that’s 6 awards out of the 1300 coffees entered. Not too shabby! We’re always excited to get a special coffee from Caffe Ladro into the beanery, and this limited-lot Guatemala is one of our very favorite cups. Reserve a bag of the rich, creamy Guatemala Juana Delgado Domingo today, and don’t miss your chance for a morning cup you'll go bananas over.
