Have you heard of Yemenia?? I hadn’t, until Cloud City’s extremely limited Yemen Al Kawleh crossed my cupping table, and now I am obsessed! An entirely new type of coffee, Yemenia was only discovered in 2020 and, while all coffees from Yemen are hard to find, this is a true rarity among rarities – the specialty world is just learning what this unique varietal is all about. What does it taste like? Literally like nothing else. The cup profile is round, with a milk-chocolate richness to the body – in this lot, evocative of irish cream – and big notes of dark fruit, black currant, concord grape, capped by an enlivening citrusy acidity. I’ve never tasted anything like it. Fruit-forward, wine-like, creamy and rich – Yemen Al Kawleh is a true one-of-a-kind coffee and we’re so excited to share it with you!

Local exporters Qima helped the local farmers in Al Kawlah develop their drying infrastructure and practice.
