Bean Box Breakdown

This smooth, creamy medium roast Peru is like a mug of fresh-baked molasses cookie: savory, spicy, and just a little smoky. You’ll love the caramel-smooth body, clean notes of molasses and brown sugar spice, and a hint of blackberry that rounds out a toasty finish. Fine coffees from Peru share the beloved, South American flavor profile of mellow acidity, nutty undertones and a burnt-sugar, caramelized sweetness. Peru has been making a splash on the specialty scene within the past few years, producing some of the best, most affordable organic coffees on today’s market. When our coffee curator visited Peru with the Cup of Excellence last year, she was blown away by the culture: every small grower expressed an overwhelming pride in their work, a sense of contributing to something great. “The best coffee in the world is from Peru!” they’d exclaim. With a cup like this one, it’s clear that coffee from Peru is a real force to be reckoned with…

Peru Rancho Sabancaya is named for one of Peru’s active volcanoes of the Andes range. Sabancaya means “tongue of fire” in the native Quechua language-- a language that many of Peru’s small farmers still speak! Luckily, this coffee transcends all language barriers. We love this organic cup for its smooth body, spiciness, molasses cookie flavor, and its versatile, low-acid profile. Enjoy this sweet sip of Peruano pride and joy.

Caffe Vita Story

Peru Rancho Sabancaya is sourced from Norandino, an umbrella organization established in 2005 to support a sustainable coffee supply from three cooperatives (Cepicafe, Cenfrocafe, and Sol y Café) in the northern regions of Peru. Collectively these cooperatives have a total of 7000 members who cultivate 25,000 acres of coffee across Piura, Cajamarca, Amazonas, and San Martin. Noradino aims to promote fair trade, sustainable development, and organic farming practices while improving the quality of life of its members. Coffee farmers receive training in land management, irrigation, storage, organic practices, efficiency, quality control, and reforestation, invaluable tools, ensuring the utmost product quality in a competitive market.

Cultivated at elevations of 1100-1700 meters, this medium-bodied coffee features aromas of dark chocolate, tobacco, cigar box, and caramel. The moderate acidity perfectly complements the blackberry and brown sugar flavors and the maple and nougat notes throughout the finish.
