At first sniff, you'll want to bury your nose in this bag-- and the lush, fruity aroma is just the precursor for all the flavor in this roast. Big, bright, and fruity, this cup brings gulpy flavors of strawberry jam, black currants, bergamot florals, and a touch of sweet tomato for that classic Kenya taste. The sugary mix of flavors is a dead ringer for wine gums candy, fruity without being one-note. As it cools, notes ease into cherry cola. A drinkable feast!
Gaturiri AA is a washed cup from the Barichu Cooperative, made of ~1100 small producers at the base of Mount Kenya, in well-loved Nyeri. Gaturiri station has been operating for over 50 years, and makes small changes every year to optimize their high-quality coffee production. The coffees brought to Gaturiri station are grown by small farms, under the shade of eucalyptus, banana, and macadamia trees. The beans are processed with rigorous attention to detail, including two separate fermentation stages, and a drying process that takes 1-2 weeks.
