Here in the Beanery, we call this the “candy bar coffee” because of its chocolate-caramel flavors. Let this cup be the indulgence that kicks off a day (or more!) of treating yourself well.
Finca El Calapo is owned by Santiago Salazar, a lifelong coffee grower. Certified organic beans, washed and sundried. A big-bodied coffee with notes of chocolate, caramel, and orange.
"Another caramel blend for the win! A hint of acidity to this one that I wasn't in love with but all around an amazing cup of coffee. "
"There is a noticeable, but pleasant acidity. I didn't find the brew overtly sweet and the strongest flavor I noticed was chocolate. After trying the coffee on its own, I added a bit of cream, and the flavor reminded me of chocolate milk. Brewed cold with a v60 Fretta. "
"I found this sweet, but sharp. Drank as espresso with and without cream."
"This was a really great coffee, not too bold but strong."
"I generally like bolder coffees, but this one is outstanding! Smooth, strong chocolate notes without the bitterness of bolder roasts. I used the entire sample bag with 3.5 cups of water in a pour-over. I used a medium-sized grind."
"This is delightful; sort of an orange, almond, marzipan. Definitely a winner, bummed that it's sold out!"
"Tastes like a Take 5 candy bar. Salty and sweet with rich caramel."
"This was a mellow happy blend that got me up and going without being too bold or acidic first thing in the morning. I ground it at 18 on a Virtuoso Baratza burr grinder and brewed in the 8 cup Bonavita drip coffee maker. Super bummed it's sold out, really wanted to buy more after the experience. "
"I use a french press to brew this roast. The tasting notes are very subtle and a bit overpowered by the acidity of this coffee when consumed on its own. With that being said, this roast pairs very well with a morning treat (I quite enjoyed it with a cinnamon roll)!"
