Today we are excited to share Guatemala La Colina, a beautifully rich and exceptionally sweet chocolate-forward brew! This light-roast coffee is classically balanced and sweet with a modern twist from The Barn’s terroir-focused roast profile. La Colina, or “the hill,” is named for the farm’s steep elevation and mountainous growing region in San Martín Jilotepeque, Chimaltenango. A third-generation farmer, Antonio Medina started growing coffee in 1991, built his own processing facilities, and now regularly places in the Guatemala Cup of Excellence competition.
This cup is smooth like a gourmet milk-chocolate bar, buttery like roasted macadamia nuts, and delicate like sugar-dusted citrus. At first sip you’ll notice sweet notes of glazed chocolate cake and a soft fruitiness akin to ripe apricot and plum. Next you’ll taste buttery hazelnut that softens into a pillowy nougat sweetness and floral mandarin citrus that deepens into a rich blood-orange juice. Harmoniously soft, silky and sweet!
