If “velvet” could be a cup of coffee, this is it: big-bodied and smooth, with notes of dark molasses, sweet purple raisin and toffee with brown sugar and almonds. Luscious finish like caramel and sweet tobacco. Brand new from our friends at Stamp Act Coffee, Brazilian Finca Samambaia isn’t a coffee to drink, it’s a coffee to wrap yourself up in.
From the first sip, I knew this velvety Brazilian roast was something special– turns out it’s a real gem! These beans are “Yellow Topazio”, a special Brazilian cross-varietal rarely seen in the US. Topazio beans ripen into a bright yellow color and produce a sweet cup with notes of dried fruits, toasted nuts, and dark chocolate: basically everything we love about Brazilian coffee.
Operated by the same family since 1896, Finca Samambaia is a gorgeous, historic estate located in Sul de Minas, one of Brazil’s main coffee growing regions. The owner Henrique Dias Cambraia, and award-winning producer, has spent his career doing honor to his family’s farm, refining and promoting his fantastic coffees. He was one of the first spokesmen for specialty coffee from Brazil, attending some of the earliest expos and proudly showing the world just how exceptional Brazilian coffee can be.
I can’t help but feel like royalty, with this gem in my cup–bold and rich, smoky and smooth. Reserve a bag of our newest Brazilian Finca Samambaia and wrap your mug–and yourself–in this rich and velvety coffee, before this limited microlot fades into the setting sun.
