This coffee is pure-buttery caramel with a sparkling mimosa-like finish. Tear open a bag and you’ll be greeted by a sugary aroma that's tailor-made for a Belgian Waffle brunch. We've been waiting to share this coffee with you for months. You probably remember our perennial favorite and best seller, Slate's "strawberry bomb" Ethiopian Kilenso. Well, Slate loved this new Kayon Mountain coffee so much they selected it over the Kilenso. For us, it was love at first brew. You'll love the buttery sweet flavor infused with a hint of orange blossom. Reserve a bag of this sweet treat for yourself or someone special ("Kayon" dig it?).
Kayon Mountain is sourced from the Kayon Mountain Coffee Farm PLC, which is managed by Ismael Hassen Aredo. Aredo has more than 20 years of experience exporting coffee from the Shakiso District in the Oromia region of Ethiopia. This farm focuses on selecting only ripe cherries that are meticulously dried, and milled in a vertically integrated operation that gives them full control of the processing up to the final export stage. What results is an exceptionally clean and sweet cup profile.
"A little bit sweet and light, pretty nice and smooth. "
"A nice fruity coffee. I used the 24 setting on my Virtuoso to take some of the bite off of the fruitiness. "
"No need to add sugar, this coffee is naturally sweet and delicious. Love the orange zest taste and the sugary smooth flavor. "
"I really liked this one. So smooth, with a lot of citrus flavor, more than expected, and more than you think you'd like. It was just easy to drink, with a natural sweetness. Didn't really need to add any sweetener to this one, it came packed with flavor."
"Fantastic Ethiopia coffee! Very fruity, sweet and drinkable. Slate has hit a home rub wth this one."
"Great coffee roaster. This was not one of our favorites. It tasted little like sour strawberries and wine. Mild acidity and lingering aftertaste. "
"I'm lucky enough to have a Slate Roaster fairly close to my house and try to stop by whenever I can, due to their unbelievably delicious roasts! This roast takes the cake! Deliciously sweet, it's the perfect way to start your morning, no matter the weather outside!"
"Maybe I brewed it poorly, but I just did not get much flavor from this coffee. It had an interesting fruitiness and fizzy-ness at the end that I liked, but overall fell flat. Brewed french press."
"This coffee is buttery thick and sweet. It has a very slight taste of raspberries or orange. The sweet thick taste lingers nicely."
"I just got this coffee today in my monthly light sample box. I prepare my coffee pour-over style. It is a delicate fragrant coffee with a creamy and fruity taste. Heavenly."
