Gesha Village is a relatively new coffee estate, located deep within Western Ethiopia. Gesha, like all coffee varietals, originated in this region’s dense, eden-like forests, but the most prominent (and pricy!) Geshas today come from farms in Latin America. The founders of Gesha Village wanted to change that, and reclaim the Gesha varietal as a distinctly Ethiopian bean. To do this, they went into the forested Ethiopian wilderness, hunted down WILD-GROWING GESHA (crazy to think these coffee plants still grow wild!) and built their farm using those wild seeds. Unlike cultivated Gesha plants from Latin America, Gesha Village plants could include dozens of different types of wild-growing, naturally evolving Gesha plants! It’s a really incredible sip of coffee terroir, straight from coffee’s birthplace itself.
