You won't believe it's a Brazilian! In this rare and flavorful medium roast, unusually sweet tropical fruit flavors, papaya and guava, brighten a smooth, butterscotch base of chocolate and hazelnut. Hint of toasted marshmallow in the finish. Complex profile, but oh-so easy to drink. Herkimer only bought a small amount of this coffee, and it’s almost gone! Luckily, they reserved the rest of the lot just for us.
Brian, one of Herkimer's coffee buyers, found this exquisite lot while visiting the Rancho Sao Benedito farm— it stood out among two cupping tables of coffee samples. Founded in 1954, Rancho Sao Benedito has been continuously operated by matriarch Mariana de Carvalho Junquiera and her four children. The Junquiera family is tireless in their pursuit of quality, with coffees from Sao Benedito having been finalists in Brazil’s Cup of Excellence seven times since 2002. The accolades are combined with a community oriented approach to environmental and social sustainability.
A coffee like this one is a present to unwrap every morning. We feel lucky to offer a limited run of this fantastic find, a true example of that "fairy tale ending" that results when roasters and growers nurture close, friendly direct-trade partnerships. This special coffee is going fast— we’re down to our last 50 bags— so act now, and treat yourself to one of the best Brazilian coffees we’ve ever tasted. That is, until next year’s lot comes out...

||★★★★★||★★★★★ Had a difficult time dialing my grinder (Encore) in on this one. One setting gave weak and sour, and the next setting finer gave flat and slightly bitter. Could taste some of the butterscotch on the coarser setting, but nothing else.|
||★★★★★||★★★★★ In the french press, it seemed a touch light, but I enjoyed the light nutty flavor.|
