You won't believe it's a Brazilian! In this rare and flavorful medium roast, unusually sweet tropical fruit flavors, papaya and guava, brighten a smooth, butterscotch base of chocolate and hazelnut. Hint of toasted marshmallow in the finish. Complex profile, but oh-so easy to drink.
Brian, one of Herkimer's coffee buyers, found this exquisite lot while visiting the Rancho Sao Benedito farm-- it stood out among two cupping tables of coffee samples. Founded in 1954, Rancho Sao Benedito has been continuously operated by matriarch Mariana de Carvalho Junquiera and her four children. The Junquiera family is tireless in their pursuit of quality, with coffees from Sao Benedito having been finalists in Brazil’s Cup of Excellence seven times since 2002. The accolades are combined with a community oriented aproach to environmental and social sustainability.
We feel lucky and excited to offer a limited run of this fantastic find, a true example of that "fairy tale ending" that results when roasters and growers nurture close, friendly direct-trade partnerships.
