Coffee hour is the new happy hour! Drink to your day with this cocktail-worthy Kenya from the well-known Othaya co-op in Nyeri. We love the tangy depth, like a caramel-sweet dessert wine, or a black forest cake. An espresso to remember.
Roaster's Notes
The Rukira wet mill and its 676 members are part of the Othaya Farmers Cooperative with over 15,000 members located in Nyeri County, Kenya. This cooperative works with 18 other small wet mills in the area focusing on the farmers, not just an aggregate. This holistic approach to business management and progressive view towards quality control throughout the supply chain creates strong social unity and reinforces the power of community. In addition to their practices, the rich red volcanic soils, altitude, and coffee varietals come together to create coffees that are nuanced and layered. This coffee is overall rich, supple, with a lush body, yet balanced with a lively and tropical acidity. Notes of mulled wine, rhubarb, and lava cake.
