Curator's Notes
If Kenyan coffees are the extroverts of the coffee world, Broadcast Coffee’s amazing Kenya Gatuya AB is the gentle giant. This cup is striking for its approachable, balanced complexity, unlike the tart, sharp acidity of some Kenyan coffees, this one is smooth, mild, pleasantly juicy. The first sips are silky, rich like milky black tea, a touch of vanilla, a toasty flavor like butter pecan. The fruit notes emerge slowly, kiwi, melon, pink grapefruit, sweet and mellow. In the finish, floral notes unfurl, hoppy and malt-like, fresh like lemongrass, drifting through an airy finish. It’s one smooth ride, from beginning to end: a beautifully balanced light roast that marries Ethiopian-like delicacy with Kenya’s classic richness.
Roaster's Notes
Gatuya AB is grown by 3,500 small producers in the Nyeri region of Kenya. Each farmer has 1/5 to 1/3 of a hectare in the rich volcanic soil of Murang'a. Gatuya is a classic Kenya. Big Body, Sweet, Fruity.
