Wow! The first time we offered an anaerobic coffee, it sold out before we could blink. This rare type of coffee doesn’t come along very often. So when our friends at Broadcast got their own special lot, they were generous enough to reserve batch just for us. Costa Rica Luis Campos Anaerobic— if you think the name is a tongue-twister, just wait until you taste it! This coffee is a cinnamon bun in a mug. At first sip, you’ll taste an amazing cinnamon-sugar flavor and a deep, silky body of dark cocoa — like a cup of Mexican hot chocolate. Round, balanced sweetness like baked apple pie filling. Finish is lush, with dark caramel, cocoa and baking spice, with a slight hint of aromatic sandalwood. If you enjoy a splash of cream, go ahead and add some icing to this cinnamon bun. Pumpkin spice ain’t got nothing on this autumn-perfect cup.
This special lot comes from small grower Luis Eduardo Campos and his farm Cordillera del Fuego, located in Costa Rica’s prime growing region of Terrazu. His innovative farm runs on solar panels, and his anaerobic program is one of the finest in the country. All the coffee beans are measured for their Brix degree (sugar content) before processing, and they ferment in stainless steel tanks before drying in the sun.
