Roaster's Notes
The Kainamui washing station, also known as the Kainamui Coffee Factory, is a standout washing station. Operated by the New Ngariama Coffee Farmers’ Cooperative Society. This cooperative comprises 1,800 smallholder farmers, growing in Kirinyaga County, Kenya. The Cooperative is certified by the Rainforest Alliance and works with TRACE Kenya, a local project to implement and monitor best organic practices. Their harvests undergo two fermentation stages: the first lasting 12-24 hours and the second for 24 hours. This is followed by a 24-hour clean soak. This process produces an exceptional coffee that highlights both a clean acidity and dark fruit flavors that are signature to Kenyan coffees.
