Very bold flavor. Tasted great with both an aeropress
and french press
. Not a coffee I could handle drinking every morning, but one I would buy again.
There is nothing better than a single origin coffee. This hits every note you want with a sumatra and makes you sad to have an empty mug.
Very bold flavor! Made my morning very enjoyable. This is one I could enjoy over and over again.
Strong, bold dark roast
. Lots of flavor and was a welcome addition from the month's selection.
Perfectly bold enough for my fiance. This was his favorite of the month
A decent Sumatra but ruined with such a prominent smokey flavor. Too much foe me...
My boyfriend loved how bold this flavor was very dark with a hint of smokiness! Can't beat it!
One of my top 2-3 favorites so far with Bean Box. Strong, dark, smoky
. I'm a fan.
, earthy dark and delicious. a great coffee

Strong and bold flavors. Very dark roast
with a little smokiness. One of my favorites.
Dark, strong, and super smoky
. A little too bold for our tastes.
This was my husband's favorite. Nice bold, strong flavors.
It has hard to do an espresso
. It is very dark and not too acid
Other reviewers say this is too dark, but I really don't think so. If you like french roasts or want to take a classic sumatra to the next level, this is the bean for you. I didn't think it could get darker or smokier than Starbucks' french roast but Lighthouse Roasters did it and have won my heart.
I gave this three stars simply because I am not a huge fan of French roasts. The beans are black, the coffee is dark and strong. No amount of added sweeteners or a cream will detract from this. If you like a French roast with a bite - this is for you.
I usually enjoy dark roast
s, but this was particularly smoky
. I wish it was a bit milder.
The least favorite of all the coffee I've received from Bean Box. It definitely isn't terrible, but way too dark for me. For the people that like dark coffee, this one's for you!
I like dark roast
s, but this one was not for me. One of my least favorites.
This was an alright coffee. A dark roast
that was not too bitter but a bit smokey for my tastes.
I liked this one quite a bit it was smooth, not bitter, dark roast
This coffee was good but not my favorite. The smokey flavor was a different choice for me and I'm not sure this is one I would reach for typically. It felt like the oddball in my bean box where the other coffees had sweeter flavors. pour over
This French roast was all right. It is much better than a chain french roast, not to acidic or punchy but I wouldn't buy a pound of it. It has a deep dark flavor but the aroma is VERY pungent.
Upon opening, I was immediately intrigued by the stark blackness of the beans. As others have said, if you're already a fan of Sumatran beans and French roasts, you'll find plenty to love here.
I love French roast coffees and I love Sumatra beans, so naturally I gravitated to this roast. My wife and I both could smell and taste a hint of tobacco
, something I was not expecting. It is quite bitter, however I found that very enjoyable. Brewed using a french press
I am not a fan of French roasts, and this tastes like a true French roast. That being said, for a French roast it was one of the better and most smooth I've had. If you like French roast, you should certainly like this one.
One of the darkest dark roast
s I've had with some ash but also lighter and brighter than I was expecting. No smoke, which I wasn't expecting. Smooth, a bit of depth, low acidity. My wife, who normally doesn't enjoy dark roast
s, liked this one quite a bit.
You can definitely taste the smokiness and spice, not bad a little too much on the spice.
We got this in the subscription box, the smell was good but a bit harsh. A little too dark for our taste.
