Curator's Notes

Like the Ichamama River, this coffee winds and twists in surprising directions. Bright notes of passionfruit lead into browned-butter cookie. Sweet-savory notes of sun-dried tomato round the finish, a flavor especially unique to Kenyan coffee.

Roaster's Notes

$23 https://cambercoffee.com/product/kenya-ichamama-peaberry/ orange zest, butter cookie, green apple This offering comes to us from the Ichamama factory, named for the nearby Ichamama river in the celebrated growing region of Nyeri. Ichamama is part of the Othaya cooperative, which represents about 700 coffee producers in the area and operates its own dry mill operation in Gatuyaini. Producers here generally cultivate around 250 coffee trees on half acre plots shaded by banana, grevallia, and macadamia trees. Ichamama brews a vibrant cup with notes of orange zest, butter cookie, cinnamon, and green apple.

"One of the flavor notes on the pouch was tomato. That's what I got mostly from this coffee. It wasn't the worst coffee I've had but I'm sure I'm not ready any more coffee with tomato as the flavor profile "

"Surprisingly I don’t usually drink Kenya coffees. This one was very good, solid and smooth with just a touch of acidic hit to it. I won’t rush back to the kitchen, grind more beans and have a second cup anytime soon though."
