§ What time do you get to sleep? What time do you wake up?
Sleep around 10.30pm. Awake around 6.30am.
§ What do you dream about?
Oh, I rarely remember my dreams. However, I did read recently that dreams are your brain re-running situations that have affected you emotionally in the real world. Your brain runs simulations (dreams) related to that experience to help you react in a more practiced manner next time you are confronted with a similar scenario. I thought that super interesting.
§ What’s the first thing you do once you’re awake?
I hate to say it, but I pick up my phone and check the news headlines on the BBC website.
§ What morning ritual do you have that’s sacred to starting your day off right?
I know you’re a coffee company, but before I hit that good stuff, I require a cup of English breakfast tea in bed before starting the day. A ritual inherited from my parents... my wife and now my kids also feel the same way. It’s a perfectly civilised way to greet the day.
§ What one possession/object is essential to your morning?
§ With whom do you spend your mornings?
My wife and two children. We all eat breakfast around the kitchen table together.
§ What do you eat for breakfast?
Yoghurt, home made granola with chopped apple and dark chocolate shavings on top.
§ What kind of coffee do you drink in the morning, and how do you prepare it?
It’s all about chocolate and caramel notes in this household. We have a really great machine and I love pulling espresso and am very particular about it. Measuring coffee with scales and dealing in the machine according to the type of coffee etc.
§ What’s the one upgrade you wish you could add to your morning?
On the whole they’re pretty perfect.
§ What do you consider the end of your morning?
A second cup of coffee at around 11am. Usually from my local coffee shop when I’m working in the studio.
