Curator's Notes

Get ready to shamrock and roll with our latest barrel-aged coffee! The Bourbon Barrel-Aged Colombian is our lucky charm — a super-limited roast, made exclusively for us, and only available for a short time. To make this coffee, we paired a nutty-caramel Colombian from Middlefork Roasters with the sugary, spicy notes from 2bar Spirit’s bourbon barrel. After aging for two weeks, the resulting beans contain no alcohol, but you’ll taste smooth notes of bourbon, sweet almond praline, and caramel in every sip. It’s perfect by itself, or just bold enough for a splash of cream... Irish cream, perhaps?

Roaster's Notes

Variety: Castillo, Caturra, San Bernardo Harvest: Oct - Dec, April - June Region: Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta - Colombia Altitude: 1750-1850 Process: Washed Certificates: USDA Organic, Rainforest Alliance Notes: sweet chocolate, caramel, sugar cane and red fruits. La Sierra is a 100% Organic coffee produced in Hacienda Napoles, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta, with different varieties: Caturra, Castilla and San Bernardo. These crops are covered under the shade of native trees, with natural water sources. FARM INFO GROWE R : MAUR I C IO The Sierra Nevada has been the main region producing organic coffee in Colombia. The varieties and the profiles of La Sierra change according to the area, but a soft cup with balanced acidity predominates with floral and sweet notes, influenced by the winds of the Caribbean and the abundance of water in this impressive mountain range. SCA Score in cup 85.5

"Great Bourbon flavor. Maybe my favorite so far"

"So I think I first tried this a year ago. Wasn't sure I'd like it so I kept it to one bag. It was awesome! But, being barrel-aged, it disappeared for a bit. I jumped on it and ordered more when it was back in stock! If you like that deep, rich bourbon aroma, you'll love this one."

"Amazing cup of coffee! Full flavor, the best Bourbon barrel aged I have tried. Doesn’t need anything, but add a splash of cream and it’s perfection!!!"

"Very bourbon forward which isn't a bad thing, slight caramel notes on the back end of the flavor profile. "

"The bourbon taste comes through like a train hitting you. The rest of the flavors are lovely, but the aftertaste of Southern Comfort is too much. I'm not sure if the flavor will settle down, but hopefully it does."

"Whoah. When I opened this bag a was welcomed with a blast of boozy, caramel goodness and the coffee did not disappoint. Whiskey, dark chocolate up front with a smooth, pecan flavored finish. I'd definitely buy this again. [pour over, 204d, 24g]"

"I am learning to drink coffee black, i prefer cream and sugar but lossing the sugar. It had a good taste but to be truthful, was expecting more from the introduction about being a bourbon roasted coffee, it feel a little short of the hype for me. Just expected a bit more dramatic flavor. "
